The Queens on Tracks

Genre: Life

Once, a Times of India journalist, interviewing me and my friends for an article on the Indian Railways Fan Club, asked - "Why is it that your group has no girls? Why do only guys love trains?"

At that time, we laughed off the question, but now I guess I know the answer. Guys love trains because trains are female!

Don't believe me? Check out this list carefully-

Amrapali
Amrita
Ananya
Aradhana
Archana
Avantika
Bhagirathi
Chamundi
Ekta
Gitanjali

What is this? Attendance sheet from a girl's college?
No!
This, (alongwith the suffix "Express" attached to each of them) is nothing but the list of names of popular Indian trains!

So, all you girls out there who used to think that guys who love trains are abnormal, time to change the misconception!

Sadly, there is no 'Anita Express' so far!

  8. @Zai

YOU talking about TRAINS!! Almost gave me a heart-attack!!! ;-)

Btw I haven't heard of any girl named MANDOVI though! :o

And KonkanKanya comes under the category of explicitly named female trains, alongwith Rani Chenamma Express, Deccan Queen, Flyind Rani etc..

  9. konkankanya n mandovi are some of the few trains i have travelled by :)
There is a river called Mandovi in goa...so i guess it is female.

  10. @Zai

I know Mandovi is a river, but do you know any GIRL whose name is Mandovi? :o

And whether "Rajdhani" is male or female, well this is something only YOU can ask.. I am dumbfounded!

  11. LOL!!! Nice one!
The moderators had ended the thread on the list, so I decided to post here.

Also, what about Mr. GK's observations on the list? 'Doosri tarah ki pyaar'? ;-)

Krishna, Tippu, Gurudev, Parasuram, Chalukya, Ananya...

And whether "Rajdhani" is male or female, well this is something only YOU can ask.. I am dumbfounded!

Well, it is known as Rajababu in East India, and hence I conclude it is male! :-)

btw karan hav u evr travelld by dis train? howz it?

No yaar, it runs in UP between Lucknow-Varanasi, never been that side. Wanna go? Varuna onboard Varuna! ;-)

Considering the fact that it is a short distance intercity train, I don't think it would have anything special. (apart from it being your namesake!)
